Installation

Step 1: Install the Extension

  • Go to the Chrome Web Store
  • Search for “BaseReply”
  • Click “Add to Chrome”
  • Confirm by clicking “Add extension”
  • BaseReply icon will appear in your toolbar

Initial Setup

Step 1: Get Your API Key

For Google Gemini (Recommended for Beginners):

  • Go to Google AI Studio
  • Sign in with your Google account
  • Click “Get API Key”
  • Click “Create API Key”
  • Copy the key (starts with “AIza…”)

Step 2: Add API Key to BaseReply

  • Click the BaseReply icon in your toolbar
  • Go to Settings
  • Click AI Providers
  • Find Gemini and toggle to Enable
  • Paste your API key
  • Click Test Connection to verify
  • Click Save

Your First AI Action

Let’s try using BaseReply for the first time!

  • Go to any webpage with text (try a news article or blog post)
  • Select a paragraph of text with your mouse
  • A floating menu will appear
  • Click “Summarize”
  • Wait a few seconds
  • See the AI-generated summary!
