What is BaseReply?
BaseReply is a Chrome extension that brings AI assistance to any text on the web. Simply select text and choose what you want to do with it.

Installation
Step 1: Install the Extension
Go to the Chrome Web Store
Search for “BaseReply”
Click “Add to Chrome”
Confirm by clicking “Add extension”
BaseReply icon will appear in your toolbar

Initial Setup
Step 1: Get Your API Key
For Google Gemini (Recommended for Beginners):
Go to Google AI Studio
Sign in with your Google account
Click “Get API Key”
Click “Create API Key”
Copy the key (starts with “AIza…”)
Step 2: Add API Key to BaseReply
Click the BaseReply icon in your toolbar
Go to Settings
Click AI Providers
Find Gemini and toggle to Enable
Paste your API key
Click Test Connection to verify
Click Save
Your First AI Action
Let’s try using BaseReply for the first time!
Go to any webpage with text (try a news article or blog post)
Select a paragraph of text with your mouse
A floating menu will appear
Click “Summarize”
Wait a few seconds
See the AI-generated summary!
